All at once

  • Enjoying music is an experience, generally, spread over a duration of time and sounds. In our lives, dominated by immediacy and visuals, music takes an almost illogical precedence in our experience. Sound evokes emotions, recalling memories at a morning dove’s coo, the rumbling of a lawnmower starting, or a song you have not listened to in years. In that instance, we attach a multi-layered visual to sound: our memory, the implicit performance, and the variety of iterations of both.

Reflecting on this aspect, these paintings aim to capture these multifaceted experiences in one frame. Using visual representations of sound such as concert films, movie musicals, music videos, and the like, I take my time to capture the emotions mirrored between oneself and the media at hand.

  • Projecting the source material onto my canvas, I mark the lighting, colors, movements, and details which stand out to me. Stopping and starting the recording throughout, layer upon layer build up from the various frames, becoming an abstraction. Combining elements from the source, these pieces directly reference the visual component to sound, while simultaneously allowing individuals to perceive their own experiences and emotions through the abstraction.

The All at Once (formerly In a Single Moment) series, preserves the duration of a musical performance, experience, and its associated memories in one image, with endless significances and serendipities to be found.

  • Though this project began as a way to re-engage with the media that has been significant for one reason or another over the course of my life so far, I am also eager to paint in this style for others. Whether you want to me to paint your favorite concert or series of videos, or maybe you’re a musician and think of it as an unconventional portrait— an abstract retrospective of your career highlights and projects. Let’s chat about how one of these pieces can take form for you!

Portraits

  • After some time away from being behind the lens professionally, I returned to portrait photography as a way to further engage with artists in my community. I utilize documentary and editorial formats to capture dynamic expressions and personal expression.

As I continue to explore this practice, I am experimenting with mixed-media and collage elements to cultivate a rich, textural visual identity.

  • The first of my most recent portrait projects began with the trust of a few of my friends. As I continue to take on projects in this realm, I preserve the trust and compassion that made those shoots great. So, it’s essential for me to spend time getting to know the subject’s inspirations and intentions before shooting. This defines my moodboards, shooting locations, use of color, and the formal qualities I utilize.

  • Though these portraits remain in a standard format for the time being, I am in the midst of experimenting with mixed-media collage and overlays, to continue engaging with the shots and imbuing them with personality and my stylistic preferences.

  • I am happy to work with a variety subjects on solo and group shoots. Let’s talk about it!

FLOR

  • FLOR {a.k.a. For (the) Love of Running} is a creative sustainability project combing my career as an artist with my passions for running and slow-fashion. Bringing new life to deadstock and gently-used athletic apparel through sun-printing methods and local, seasonal botanicals to create one-of-a-kind pieces designed to last.

  • FLOR is independently fabricated and supported through the deadstock donations from brands such as On Running, Saucony, Stox, and Kiprun. Thanks to these donations, as well as many more from active running communities across Germany, FLOR is able to remain in production into 2026.

All inquires about partnership and support are welcome!

  • FLOR is run on a project-basis catering to specific events.

In 2025, the first collection was launched celebrating the Berlin-Marathon collection featuring Prussian Blue print made with seasonal and symbolic botanicals.

As my designs are made to fit each event, the colors and botanicals are modified to suit the corresponding communities. All pieces are unique, based on the donations I receive.

In 2026 intend to present FLOR at further activations supporting sustainability in sport.

  • To request a FLOR collection for your event, please provide me with info on location, color schemes, and time frames to realistically plan what is possible.

FLOR is also available for interactive group sun-printing workshops.

Anodyne Magazine

  • Anodyne Magazine was co-founded by Katarina Eva Yepez and Veronica Zora Kirin in 2023 to provide a creative outlet for FLINTA* women to showcase their broad experience with health and wellness in art & literature. Originally a symbolically trimesterly periodical, Anodyne is now published twice a year; each edition with a new Guest Editor’s perspective.

  • After lifetimes of silencing by an unaccommodating system we have had enough. Our voices have been muffled, our needs ignored, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood. Billions of FLINTA* people exist, frustrated by patriarchal structures and standards for health. It’s our time to be heard.

We refuse to accept outdated solutions to contemporary issues.

Anodyne (meaning pain relief) Magazine is a biyearly periodical offering an opportunity to voice our experiences to the masses. We exist not only for catharsis, but also progress. With the intersectional contributions featured in our magazine, we hope to change the existing health paradigm. (ISSN 3052-1289)

    We are listening.
    We support you.

  • Anodyne is a magazine focused on personal health experiences, including (but not limited to) physical health, doctor visits, mental health, chronic illness, and more.

We accept submissions from anyone identifying as part of the FLINTA* community worldwide. You can learn more about our process at Six Questions For and check out some of our published work here.
