Inspiration has been at Katarina’s doorstep all her life. Born just outside of Chicago, IL and raised in Albuquerque, NM; the artist currently resides in Berlin, where that condition remains, almost serendipitously.
Through whimsical forms and energetic colors the artist's work is an expedition into the sometimes chaotic expanses of emotion. Fascinated by fleeting moments, coping mechanisms, and surrendering to her own humanity, the artist's works are a full process seen at once. To lean in is to conspire in the antics of mutual beginnings and simultaneous ends.
Katarina considers herself something of a Renaissance (Wo)man, an artist of many media and master of a good few. Though she tends to center her practice on painting, Katarina is also an experienced photographer, writer, sculptor, designer, and more.
On any given day, Katarina can be found losing track of time working on various artworks and creative endeavors. Since moving to Berlin, she’s hosted several painting workshops in various community spaces across the city and the lucky park or two. Additionally, she is the co-founder (alongside Veronica Kirin) and art director of FLINTA* arts & literature publication, Anodyne Magazine.
In 2022, Katarina received her B.A. from Kenyon College. Self-directing her major in Art and Perception Studies, she combined elements of Art History, Philosophy, and Studio Art to explore the cultivation and maintenance of identities in visual culture, as well as the usage and cultural impact of exhibition spaces. She received distinction on her thesis on the cultural specificity of lighting design and its relationships to identity, “the Light We Let In.”
Several of Katarina’s works can be found for sale through her shop, and commissions by request. Fill out the contact form to get in touch with any questions about pieces, sales, and/or commissions.
